In this episode of March Forth, Mike Bauman chats with friend and former colleague Mik Gonzales.
A longtime play-by-play announcer and sports media personality, Mik chats with Mike about his passion for sports and how he got into broadcasting. From his early experimentation with internet broadcasts in the 90's, to meeting Mike Jameson and starting Toledo Sports Network, to his 20 years as the voice of the Toledo Cherokee, Mik takes Mike on the journey of his sports broadcasting career. In that journey is the story of how Mik met Mike nearly 10 years ago and got his wheels turning on getting into sports broadcasting.
The pair also discusses Mik's recent and ongoing cancer battle, how he's persevering through it, as well as his SAP Memorial Award honor from the Toledo Cherokee in a heartwarming ceremony by the team. Additionally, Mike touches on the global Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic and the surreal times we're in.
You can listen to Mik each Sunday morning from 9 am - 10 am on his sports talk radio show "The Cheap Seats," which airs on 106.5 The Ticket in Toledo. For more on Mik, check out the links below.
